MedMagik Watermark: Protect Your Product Images Without Hurting the Customer Experience

You invest real time and money in your product photos: shooting, retouching, staging. Yet every day, these images are grabbed through Google Images, embedded on competitor websites, or hotlinked without your consent.

Traditional watermark solutions force an uncomfortable trade-off: either you protect your images by stamping a visible watermark on them—degrading the shopping experience for your own customers—or you do nothing, and your photos circulate freely across the web.

How It Works

The concept is simple yet highly effective:

1. A visitor browses your store — they see all images in full quality, without any watermark. The shopping experience stays flawless.
2. External access is detected — whether it's an image search engine, a competitor site, or hotlinking, the module automatically identifies the request origin through .htaccess rules.
3. The watermark is applied on the fly — your custom text and/or logo are dynamically overlaid on the requested image. The original file is never modified.

The original image is never altered. The watermark is generated in real time, cached for performance, and invisible to your actual customers.

Two Types of Watermark

Text Watermark

Display your shop name, URL, or any custom text. The font size adapts automatically to each image's resolution. You control the color, opacity (0 to 100%), outline and outline color to ensure readability on any background.

Image Overlay

Upload your logo in PNG format with transparency. Adjust its size relative to the image (%) and its opacity. Perfect for branding stolen images back to you.

Both types can be used separately or combined, with 10 positioning modes: center, 4 corners, 4 edges, and diagonal repeat.

Statistics & Control

The module doesn't just protect—it keeps you informed. A dedicated dashboard lists every domain accessing your images, along with hit counts and last activity dates. You can filter by period (7, 30, 90 days, or full history), export data to CSV, and block a domain with a single click.

Installation in 4 Steps

1. Install the module from your PrestaShop back office (Modules > Module Manager).
2. Automatic configuration — the module generates .htaccess rules, creates the cache directory, and initializes the statistics table.
3. Customize your watermark settings: text, image, position, opacity, directories to protect...
4. Verify everything works using the built-in diagnostics (7 automatic checks).

No technical knowledge is required. The module handles everything, including rewrite rule configuration. For Nginx servers, a configuration guide is provided in the documentation.
